Well I'm back to Michigan, peeps :3
The trip to Maryland was a fun, if exhausting, one. Got to catch up with a lot of friends I only see once a year, and it was a blast.
I also picked up one or two ponies I've been seeking out, so it was a good MD Meet this year

Unfortunately, my laptop seems to be on it's last leg. Back in March it had been showing weird signs, and initial research gave me 3 possibilities. Either the monitor was going, video cables were going, or graphic's card was going. A diagnostic would take a few days to run, so I decided to wait until my trip to have it done as I would not be using it.
Turns out the motherboard is going. The laptop overheats to the point of slowly killing it, despite the fact I use a laptop fan. Essentially, I need to buy a new computer.
I did take the time to purchase an external hard drive as a quick spur of the moment fix to be sure I had things saved on the off chance the laptop wanted to spontaneously die in 24 hours. I've been meaning to buy one for the past year, so now I do have one. 99% of my stuff is backed up on disks, so I'm pretty good. Now I'd like to take things from the disks and add them to the EH, as a live back up too. Having 2 backups of files is a good thing

And I can easily grab an EH during a tornado warning and head downstairs instead of an entire drawer of back up disks.
In any case, its had to say how long the laptop will last. The past few months I've noticed that the time it takes to run virus scans is getting progressively longer. It used to average like 2.5 hours and now I'm lucky if it does it in 12. Before I could leave the laptop on and it would run a virus scan through one of my work shifts. Now, if I let it run, I have to hover around and make sure the laptop doesn't decide to fall into sleep mode.
Within the last few days I'm noticing issues with the speakers. I'm hearing pops in audio, which I'm certain wasn't an issue before hand. Also, it almost sounds like it's a runner who's out of energy, breathing hard.
I'm not gonna lie, I do have hesitations about starting work on a comic with a failing computer. But I'm going to try and push through that.
I think I will get a PC instead of a laptop though, when the time comes. I rarely used the laptop on the go, and I pretty much abore how hot the key board always gets (which makes playing any pc games a pain), as well as generally typing. We'll see how things pan out. I'm hoping to get back into comicing within the next few days (hopefully).
